A sketchbook from 2011. During this year I started to make paintings regularly along the banks of the Thames. Walking along the paths sketching as I move. These are all very quick pencil sketches. I like to make them quickly because it is a good way to avoid being precious with mark making. When you are moving or only stopping for a few seconds at a time it forces you to focus on essential elements. This sketchbook is about 4"x6" #Sketch #Pencil

This sketchbook was made plein air at various locations along the river Thames. It is very small and fits in the palm of my hand, the sketches are all pencil. I like to walk and sketch when I'.m looking for new locations. The sketches are made very quickly. This collection shows me exploring new locations on the Thames for future paintings. #Sketch #Pencil
